Design Manager
Construction
Archer Recruitment is currently working with an expanding main contractor delivering new build and refurbishment schemes to £100m across the public and private sectors, they are seeking a Design Manager in Manchester with experience working at the pre-construction stage on projects over £40m.
The company’s current workload comes from several sectors, but they are very strong within the Commercial, High Rise Student Accommodation, and Leisure sectors and have a proven track record of delivering projects ranging from £80m.
The workload is secured via framework agreements, negotiated repeat work and competitive tendering and you will be working as part of a work-winning team where you will lead the design management aspect to ensure the project is value-engineered to maximise ‘best price’.
Experienced in the Design Management function you will ideally come from a main contracting background, possess a high level of contractual, technical and programme awareness and be professionally qualified, ideally with a degree.

- Architectural qualification (or equivalent design, technical and/or construction-based qualification)
- Proven track record of successfully managing all aspects of the technical process of residential buildings
- Proven track record of managing and incorporating designs within existing buildings with residents in occupation
- Background in high rise buildings, cladding systems and building fire safety would be advantageous
