Our client is a leading engineering firm that specializes in large scale environmental infrastructure projects. They are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Design Manager to join their team in managing an ongoing Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) project in Singapore.
Summary
As the Engineering Design Manager on an ongoing project in Tuas, you will report to the Project Director/Superintending Officer and be responsible for managing and coordinating the engineering design aspects of the project. You will liaise with key stakeholders, to ensure that design work meets project requirements. You will supervise and coordinate with various teams, including the Core Engineering Team, as well as the Resident Site Staff (RSS) Team. This is a full-time position based in the Project Office at Tuas on-site, for a duration of 2 years, with a view to extension by mutual consent.
Job Description:
- Will be part of the Senior Project Management Team, chaired by the Project Director/Superintending Officer, which meets regularly to discuss project progress and resolve any internal issues.
- Manage and coordinate the review and approval of design and technical submissions from the Contractors with administrative support from the Core team members.
- The role will involve liaising and interfacing with other disciplines in the Core and RSS Teams as required to achieve this.
- Direct liaison with the Client's Technical Directors and attend monthly Project Steering Committee meetings chaired by the Deputy CEO
- Organize and chair specific technical meetings with the Contractor and their Key Technology Providers/Suppliers, if necessary, to resolve any technical issues relating to equipment.
- Review and monitor the Contractor's design submittal schedule, with support from the Senior Planner, and chair regular Design Review Coordination Meetings with the Contractor and/or Other Contractors on adjacent sites.
- Provide technical support to the RSS team relating to equipment during the construction/erection and commissioning phases and assist the RSS team in troubleshooting site-related issues during construction and commissioning.
- Be responsible for any other matters that may be delegated by the PD/SO from time to time.
- Ensure the overall technical accuracy and adequacy of the contractor's deliverables for their design under the EPC contracts and provide oversight for interdisciplinary and inter-package coordination across the entire project
- Min bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Structural/Process)
- Min 15 years’ experience in managing and delivering large scale industrial/utilities projects (e.g. waste, water, oil & gas, power) or relevant experience in delivering large solid waste management projects (e.g. WTE, sludge incineration, materials recovery and food waste treatment).
- Min PE or Chartered Engineer
- Excellent interpersonal, good written and verbal communication skills
- Good project and time management skills, and strong analytical skills
- Team player and able to work independently
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight timeline
